Monserate Mountain Preserve
Monserate Mountain Preserve is just east of I-15 at Pankey and Stewart Canyon Rd.
The acquisition of this preserve started with 225 acres in 2000. More acreage was added in 2003 and 2004 bringing the total to 340. A steep 1.5 mile trail to the summit rewards hikers with panoramic views of the Peninsular Range to the east and the Pacific Ocean to the west.
Since 2013, the Fallbrook Firefighters 9/11 Memorial Hill Climb, honoring the memory of 343 firefighters killed when the twin towers collapsed, has been held here at Monserate Mountain.
The event was organized by the North County Fire Protection District. Money raised will be split between the National Fallen Firefighters
Foundation and the Wounded Warrior Project. See more photos from the event on our Facebook page...
